How It Started
How It Started
The first time I opened a computer was in 2020 when I was 12. My prebuilt computer struggled to run multiple apps due to insufficient RAM, so I ordered an upgrade. With my dad busy at the time, I decided to install it myself. Since then, I’ve replaced every component of that original computer, which is still in use, and I’ve built multiple computers and repaired several of my own devices.

My First Build
My First Build
The first computer I built from scratch is shown above. With a budget of just $500, I planned to resell it for $1,200. I spent weeks sourcing the best parts for the price, and by the summer of 2022, I had everything ready. During the build, I faced several challenges, such as lacking zip ties for cable management, so I used rubber bands instead, and I lost a screw for the SSD, which I had to instead secure with tape. Despite these setbacks, the computer miraculously worked! Given the state of the build, I decided to keep it, and I still use it to this day.

The Future
The Future
It has been almost a year since I last built a PC, as my admission to Andover required me to put the hobby on hold. Now that I’m more accustomed to the workload at Andover, I plan to start a computer building club. In this club, I aim to teach others not only how to build computers but also how to turn it into a sustainable and profitable hobby.
